Lampropeltis webbi (Webb’s Kingsnake)
East of Durango/Sinaloa border, MX Highway 40
These sites in far western Durango, on the Pacific slope of the Sierra Madre Occidental, are representative of areas along the Hwy 40 corridor where L. webbi has been found. The photo on the left, showing an open, grassy meadow area, is at Los Bancos (elev. 7513 ft/2289 m). The second photo, just east of Los Bancos, nicely illustrates the extremely rugged terrain that characterizes webbi habitat. Both photos courtesy of Chris Rodriguez. The last 3 images were recorded in September 2014, courtesy of Jason Jones.
