Lampropeltis greeri (Durango Mountain Kingsnake)
North of Santa Rosa, western Aguascalientes
This interesting area is located along the dirt road that runs north from the settlement of Santa Rosa to Paredes. Although a bit lower and drier than the Mesa Montoro region, we strongly suspect that Durango Mountain Kingsnakes occur here. Mexican Gartersnakes (Thamnophis eques), Yarrow’s Spiny Lizards (Sceloporus jarrovii), Mexican Mud Turtles (Kinosternon integrum), Clouded Anoles (Anolis nebulosus), and Canyon Treefrogs (Hyla arenicolor) were observed. Elevation 6900 ft/2102 m. (July 2006).
